Champion acquisition
He fought against the WBA Lightweight champion Yusuke Kobori, He won the fight by points, and he became the new world champion in Pacifico Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture Yokohama City in Japan on the night, 3 January 2009.[1] Moses defended that title on 25 July 2009 by unanimous decision over Takehiro Shimada.
Loss of title and subsequent fights
The hitherto undefeated Moses was knocked out by challenger Miguel Acosta by a sixth round knockout on 30 May 2010.[2] A comeback fight against Argentine pugilist Roberto David Arrieta is scheduled for 6 November 2010, in Ongwediva.[3]
WBO Lightweight title fight
Moses will challenge newly installed WBO Lightweight champion, Ricky Burns for Burns' title on 10 March 2012. This will be a return to Burns' homeland with the fight being held in Braehead Arena, Glasgow. Moses’ trainer and promoter Nestor ‘Sunshine’ Tobias said that his fighter, blessed with electric speed and a powerful left hook, plans to cut his rival’s newfound supreme status short."Hitman knows this is a big opportunity for him. Now it's for the title and we know that the best thing is to go there and win," Tobias told The Namibian Sport. "We know Burns is a tough fighter but our mission is to go there and make history. Hitman is working very hard in the gym and he wants to be the world champion." Tobias said international promoter Don King has added and extra incentive for Moses should he win the bout. "I was talking to Don King and he said Hitman can end up unifying the titles if he wins. This is a big motivation for him," Tobias said. Moses would go on to lose to Burns on points after 12 hard-fought rounds.
