Pechey is a small rural locality in the Toowoomba Region, Queensland, Australia.[1]
Geography
The New England Highway passes through the centre of the town. Pechey State Forest occupies the entire south east corner of the area.[2]
History
The town was named after Edward Wilmot Pechey (Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly for the Electoral district of Aubigny 1873-1877). He was also a surveyor and sawmill owner.[1] Pechey Post Office opened on 1 July 1927 (a receiving office had been open from 1888) and closed in 1971.[3]
