Villaggio Coppola (also known as Pinetamare[1]) is a place in the Italian region of Campania, administratively a frazione of Castel Volturno in the Province of Caserta.
Geography
The town is located on tyrrhenian coast, between Castel Volturno, Lago Patria (hamlet of Giugliano) and Villa Literno. Its distance is 27 km from the city of Naples.
History
The village was built in later '60s of 20th century as a touristic multifunctional center by Vincenzo and Cristoforo Coppola.[2] Denouncements for partial destruction of natural environment in the area, made by WWF and some local authorities, started in 1975. First demolition of abusive building started in 1999[3] and there are some hypothesis to convert the village as a part of a natural reserve.
