Piyush Ranade (born 28 March 1983) is a Marathi film & television actor. He got his fame by his role of Inspector Aakash in Zee Marathi television daily soap Lajja, which was dedicated to women's harassment. This talented actor started his career with Hindi language plays from college days. After moving to Mumbai from Baroda where he completed his graduation, he appeared in Zee Marathi television's Kata Rute Kunala and STAR Plus's Burey Bhi Hum Bhale Bhi Hum as Kaivalya.[1] He was noticed by Smita Talwalkar who saw him in his plays and offered him role of CID Inspector Aakash Ketkar, a dashing young and genuine Inspector who stands by scandal victim Manaswini (played by Girija Oak).

Biography and early life

Piyush Ranade was born to Vibhas and Vidula Ranade in Nagpur. His parents later shifted to Baroda with him where he finished his schooling and college. He was into acting from early days of his education. He has received degree in Theater Arts from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda's Performing Arts Department.

Theater and drama

Piyush Ranade's first major Hindi play was Mahanirvan by Satish Alekar when he was still in college. He later performed in Oye Band Baj Gaya! [2] and Sakna Re To Sasu Nahi [3] by National Centre for the Performing Arts (India). His current play is Rishto ka live telecast along with Reema Lagoo,Anjan Shrivastav, Veebha Anand, Prarthna Behere, it is produced by actor Sachin Parikh.

Television career

Piyush got his first Marathi television show Kata Rute Kunala. His first major Hindi television show was Burey Bhi Hum Bhale Bhi Hum on STAR Plus in which he played Kaivalya (Mansukh's elder son).[4] His first Marathi television show as lead star was Zee Marathi's Lajja along with Girija Oak, Tejaswini Pandit and Mukta Barve.[5] In this show, he portrayed character of a young and dynamic CID Inspector Aakash Ketkar who was firm supporter of a scandal victim Manu (played by Girija Oak). The show was huge hit and his work was very well praised. This was the start of his career. After that he never looked back. His second Marathi television show as lead was Zee Marathi's Ekach Hya Janmi Janu opposite to Tejaswini Pandit.[6][7][8] In Ekach Hya Janmi Janu, he portrayed character named Shrikant, who found his lost wife's reflection in a disabled girl Anjali (played by Tejaswini Pandit. He was also seen in other Marathi, Hindi as well as Gujrati television shows. Personal life

Piyush was married to Shalmalee Tolye in 2010. Shalmalee is a television actress too. They separated in 2014.

Filmography

Piyush has done a role of Vijay in Kedar Shinde's much awaited movie Shrimant Damodar Pant along with Bharat Jadhav. This movie was released on 26 July 2013. Piyush's first marathi movie as lead is untitled project of Director Mangesh Kanthale starred opposite to female lead Tejaswini Pandit[11] Piyush's another upcoming movie is 'Shivya' by director Sarkar Raut along with Bhushan Pradhan. In this movie, Piyush will be seen in a negative role.[12][13] He is also shooting for movie of Viju Mane, Chuk Bhul Dyavi Ghyavi. He will be seen in guest appearance along with Mrunmayee Deshpande, Jitendra Joshi.[14]
