Alfonso "Poncho" Nevárez is a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives, serving since 2013. Nevárez is the first member of his family to graduate from college.[1] He won the seat after longtime incumbent Pete Gallego gave it up to make a successful run for the United States House of Representatives.
