Pontypridd Urban District Council Tramway operated a tramway service in Pontypridd between 1904 and 1931.[1]

History

Pontypridd Urban District Council took over the lines of the Pontypridd and Rhondda Valley Tramways within its area, and undertook a programme of modernisation and electrification. The first electric tramway services started on 5 March 1904.

The route of the line went from Pontypridd town centre to Treforest railway station. There was a branch line connecting to Cilfynydd, which was worked as a single route via Pontypridd.

From July 1919 until December 1927 there was through running onto the neighbouring system of the Rhondda Tramways Company.

Closure

Services ceased on 30 August 1931.
