Porajów [pɔˈrajuf] (German: Großporitsch) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Bogatynia, within Zgorzelec County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland, close to the Czech and German borders.[1] Prior to 1945 it was in Germany. Following World War II the native German populace was expelled and replaced by Poles.
It lies approximately 11 kilometres (7 mi) west of Bogatynia, 32 kilometres (20 mi) south-west of Zgorzelec, and 157 kilometres (98 mi) west of the regional capital Wrocław.
The village has a population of 2,500. It lies on a railway line and road running from Zittau in Germany to Hrádek nad Nisou village in Liberec district in the Czech Republic; however the trains do not stop on Polish territory.
