After Vigilante, director Khanal repeated Karki in his next venture, Jholay' opposite Daya Hang Rai, where she plays the character of a prostitute.[36] which gave her the first taste of box office success. Karki's next release Aawaran did not do that well at the box office but her work was praised immensely.[38][39] Although not a commercial success, this movie launched Karki as a singer in the Nepali music industry. Karki went on to sing the OST of Aawaran in collaboration with Yama Buddha. The song was a blockbuster and Karki's singing abilities were highly appreciated.[40]
