Coordinates[1] Location[2] Climate [6] |
Proof Range is a locality in South Australia located on the eastern coastline of Gulf St Vincent about 74 kilometres (46 mi) north-northwest of the Adelaide city centre and about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) south of the town centre of Port Wakefield.[2] Its boundaries were created in January 2000 in respect of the “long established name.” [1] Its name is derived from the use of the land within its extent for the testing of weapons and ammunition as part of the Port Wakefield Proof and Experimental Establishment.[3][1] Proof Range is located within the federal Division of Wakefield, the state electoral district of Goyder and the local government area known as the Wakefield Regional Council.[1][5][4]
