Pulinkunnoo is an island village in Alappuzha district in the Indian state of Kerala.[1] The Pampa river in Pulincunnoo is one of the most favored routs of the houseboats tourism operators in Kuttanadu. The village is part of the Kerala Backwaters, a network of lakes, wetlands, and canals. Pulincunno is notable for the annual Rajiv Gandhi Trophy boat race held during the months of October–November.

Education

Considered an educational village, Pulinkunnoo has schools and colleges that are hundreds of years old. St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School is one of the important and the oldest institution in Pulincunnoo, with more than 118 years of its presence.Many prominent personalities including Sri. M. V. Pylee (former Vice Chancellor of Cochin University)' Fr. Mathew Chathamparambil (the present Vice Chancellor of Christ University, Bangalore) etc. are the former students of this school. Cochin University College of Engineering Kuttanad under CUSAT, is a famous engineering college at this place. Notable educational institutions from the village include: Little Flower Girls High School Pulincunnoo, Amalolbava lower primary school, St. Mary's ITC, K E Carmel ICSE School, etc. Students from far and wide, in and around kuttanadu became well educated in this small village premises.

Given below are a few names which according to my information are the all-time greats of Pulincunnoo 1) His Beatitude Mar Louis Pazheparambil: First Bishop of Angamally Ernakulam Diocese 2) IC Chacko : Visionary, Geologist, Philologist, grammarian and Writer (Mar Louis Pazheparambil was the son of IC Chacko's father's elder sister) 3) Adv PJ Mathen Pattathil Pathil: One of the founder directors of the erstwhile Bank of Cochin and its CEO for 27 years from its inception in1921 . 4) VJ Chacko Vachaparambil: First Indian to head Spencer & Co and later Managing Director of Apollo Group of Hospitals. 5) Joseph Mathew Pattam ( JM Pattam): Travancore University Athletic Champion and record holder . An ace football centre forward - one of the best Travancore State has ever produced. Darling of the crowd wherever he played. 6) Sunny J Pattam: Younger brother of JM Pattam, who went on to become the first Indian to head the Commonwealth Group of Companies. 7) Thomas John Thaithara Ex MLA: Freedom fighter and one of the founders of Kerala Congress, who represented Kuttanadu in the Assembly consecutively. 8) VN Cyril Vadakkal IPS( Indian Postal Service ): former PMG of Kerala and Member of the All India Pistal and telegraph Board 9) Udaya Kunchacko Maliyampurackal : The doyen of Malayalam film industry 10) Navodaya Appachen: Younger brother of Udaya Kunchacko and another doyen in Malayalam Film Industry . 11) P K Narayana Panicker: Hailing from Kannadi, Pulincunnoo, he was the longest serving General Secretary of NSS. 12) CP Varghese Kappil: Chairman and MD of National Insurance Company . 13) Fr Thomas Chathanparambil CMI : Former Principal of Christ College Bangalore and presently Vice Chancellor of the Christ University, Bangalore. 14) Dr AV Jose Aresserril: Former Director of ILO ( International Labour an Organisation ) an arm of UNO.
