The crimson-crowned fruit dove (Ptilinopus porphyraceus), also known as the purple-capped fruit dove (leading to easy confusion with the beautiful fruit dove, alternatively known as the crimson-capped fruit dove), is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. It is found in American Samoa, Fiji, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Niue, Samoa, Tonga, and Wallis and Futuna Islands. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests.
