Quillan Roberts (born 13 September 1994) is a Canadian soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Toronto FC.

Career

Professional

Roberts signed his first team contract on April 10, 2012[1][2] becoming the seventh TFC Academy graduate to the senior team[3] He made his first appearance for Toronto as a second half sub for Freddy Hall during a friendly against Liverpool on July 21, 2012.[4] after playing in their academy system in previous years.

After failing to make a league or cup appearance for Toronto for two consecutive seasons he was loaned out in early 2014 to USL Pro side Wilmington Hammerheads after forming a partnership between the two clubs, he was loaned alongside Manny Aparicio and Daniel Lovitz.[5] He made his debut for Wilmington on the season opener April 5 against Harrisburg City Islanders, the game ended in a 0–0 draw.[6]

Roberts joined Toronto FC II on loan on March 20, 2015.[7] He made his debut against Whitecaps FC 2 on April 19.

International

Youth

Roberts was a part of Canada's U17 soccer team, making his debut in the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup. He went into the tournament as the second goalkeeper, but due to an injury, he played the second group stage game against England where he earned international fame for scoring a goal from his own half in a 2–2 draw.[8] He is the only goalkeeper to score in a FIFA finals to date.[9]

Roberts was named to the 2015 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship team on September 18, 2015.[10]

Senior

After participating in numerous camps with the senior team under Benito Floro, Roberts made his full senior debut against Puerto Rico as a substitute for Milan Borjan on March 30, 2015.
