Radical Love is the first live album of the Filipino worship band Victory Worship, a worship team from Philippine church Victory[3] which is passionate about making music that honors God and inspires people to know and follow Jesus.[4] It was recorded live at Every Nation and contains 11 tracks written or co-written by the Victory Worship team, including the number one radio singles “Radical Love,” “Grace Changes Everything,” and “Jesus My Savior”. It was certified gold by Philippine Association of the Record Industry last February 11, 2015 for selling 7,500 units or more.[5] The title-track "Radical Love" has been nominated in the "Best Inspirational/Religious Recording" category of the 28th Awit Awards.
Background
According to Joey Bonifacio, they want Radical Love to create:
"Worship songs that communicate Bible truths, express our passion for Christ, and emphasize our values of lordship, evangelism, discipleship, leadership, and family, as we are part of the Every Nation Movement." and
"World-class worship music. For us, every aspect of this ministry is our worship to God, so we bring a spirit of excellence into every area of production. From songwriting to song production, from packaging to distribution, from live events to merchandising, we offer God our best."[6]
Reception
Paolo Punzalan posted an article on his blog entitled THE RADICAL LOVE OF GOD AND THE RADICAL LOVE ALBUM, he quoted, "God’s radical love and God’s radical mission demands our radical response." He also said that "as you worship God with everything that’s within you, these songs may propel you to moments of devotion to the King who is worthy of all honor."[7]
Ganns posted about the music video for "Radical Love", "world-class" and "can proudly put alongside Hillsong, Citipointe, Elevation Worship, or Planetshakers".[8]
Chart performance
Upon release, Radical Love became successful on charts not only in the Philippines but all over the world. The last seven days upon its release have been historic for both Contemporary Christian music and original Filipino music, as Radical Love, an album by a Filipino-Christian worship group, topped the iTunes Philippines Album chart for one week. It is the first Contemporary Christian release – local or international – to top the chart.
Radical Love took the summit a few hours after its release on chart dated September 12, 2014; a day later, its title track and carrier single of the album topped the iTunes Philippines Top 200 Songs chart. At one point, all ten other tracks from the album were in the Top 40 of the chart, with four of the songs in the Top 10.
It also performed well on iTunes album charts in other countries, including a #11 peak in Singapore and a #17 peak in Indonesia. The album also peaked at #38 on the iTunes Christian & Gospel charts in the USA.[9]
