Rancho Cielo Solar Farm

The Rancho Cielo Solar Farm was the largest proposed solar farm in the United States. It was expected to cost $840 million and provided 600 MWp and to cover an area of 700 acres (280 ha).[1] The project was cancelled in April 2010.[2]

It was to be located in a 6,000 acres (2,400 ha) planned industrial community in Belen, New Mexico called Rancho Cielo, and was expected to provide the majority of the community's power when completed. The thin film silicon panels were to be built locally, by Signet Solar.[3][4]
