Rawat Rajputs

The Rawat Rajputs are a social group founded in the north western and central states of India. Rawats of Uttarakhand are Rajputs / Kshatriyas (Warriors) by caste, but have been traditionally engaged in Agriculture. You will also find many Rawats in Military Service due to Rajput connection. They take pride in joining Army and fighting for the country.

Rawats, along with Negis and Bishts, form a large majority of Rajputs in Uttarakhand, both in Garhwal as well as Kumaon.
