- ↑ Note: the name "burra" comes from the Sindhi name "Boro" for Lanius vittatus. At the time of its naming, J. E. Gray was with the wildlife art collections of Major-General Thomas Hardwicke (1755-1835), who was an inveterate collector of natural history drawings in India. Hardwicke was involved in the second Rohilla War (1797-1803) in Afghanistan. It is possible that this word was taken from something written on the original drawings. Lanius burra Gray, 1834.
