Rémy Cointreau is a French alcoholic beverage company that produces cognac, liqueurs and spirits. The company is a result of a 1990-1991 merger between Rémy Martin and Cointreau.
Brands
Brands produced by Rémy Cointreau include: Rémy Martin (cognac), Mount Gay (rum), Cointreau (liqueur), Passoã (liqueur), Metaxa (brandy) and Bruichladdich (Scotch whisky)
Rémy Cointreau previously owned both Piper-Heidsieck and Charles Heidsieck champagnes. The sale of Piper-Heidsieck, Charles Heidsieck and 800ha of vineyards to private French luxury goods group EPI (Société européenne de participations industrielles) owned by the Descours family for €400m was announced on 16 March 2011.[1]
On 23 July 2012, it was announced that Rémy Cointreau had acquired Bruichladdich, the Islay Scotch Whisky distillery, for £58m.[2]
