Rob Shehadie is an Australian-born actor, writer and stand up comedian of Lebanese descent, who has featured prominently in popular television series such as "Pizza", "Swift and Shift Couriers" and "Housos".[1] He has performed numerous stage show comedies across Australia, and has made countless appearances at schools and charity events.[1][2] His filmography includes "Fat Pizza", a feature film that broke Australian box office records and "Fat Pizza vs. Housos", a film that will be shown in Australian cinemas from November 27, 2014 onwards.[1][2][3] Shehadie created the TV comedy series Here Come the Habibs

Biography and career

Before turning to acting, Shehadie was a full-time Rugby union player. He represented Australia/NSW in schoolboy, under 19's and under 21's level. He also represented Lebanon in rugby league. He was forced to stop the sport due to injuries.[2][4]

His most notable appearance on television was the role of the character Rocky in "Pizza" and "Housos" on SBS. Also, he appears in the Nine Network comedy that He created "Here Come the Habibs".

He was the creator of the hit comedy "From Lebanon With Love Part 1 & 2" which has been one of the most successful and celebrated independent theatre shows in Australia. It was performed in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney and was watched by more than 70,000 viewers at Enmore Theatre. The record breaking show was unique, in that it was a family show with non-stop laughter that also introduced positive messages. The show did not contain politics or religion, focusing on showing the Arabic community in their true light. It was welcomed and warmly received by the wider community who embraced this show as their own.[2]

He has also been nominated for a TV Week Logie award "Most Popular New Talent" making him the first Australian of Lebanese descent to be nominated.

He obtained a role on the 7mate's popular series Bogan Hunters in 2014 as one of the celebrity judges.[5]

Charity work

Rob Shehadie is currently an ambassador for Special Olympics Australia, helping athletes with an intellectual disability reach their personal best through participation in sport.[6] He has also assisted Westmead Medical Research Foundation by supporting and hosting the My Westmead Ladies Night and the Cancer Council's Girl's Night In in 2012.[6]
