2016 student death

Divyansh Kakrora Meena (दिव्यांश ककरोरा मीणा), a six-year-old student of Class I of Ryan International School in Vasant Kunj died on the school premises on 30 January 2016. The boy was spotted by an electrician in a water tank under the school's amphitheatre and rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Sources say that Divyansh was rushed to the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre at Vasant Kunj by school officials without informing police, his family members, or authorities. He was brought to the hospital at about 2pm. "There was no pulse or pupil movement... he was brought dead. The school authorities got him here, and we were given a history of him having been found unconscious. We called the police to intimate them", a hospital source said.[6]

The father of the child, Ramhit Meena, alleges that the school management tried to cover-up the issue: "I kept asking the school staff what happened to my son, but no one bothered to answer. The Principal even asked me to keep quiet. I think this is a conspiracy by the school staff".[7]

Terming the behaviour 'arrogant' and 'insensitive', deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio, said such behaviour of the schools on matters relating to safety of the children will not be tolerated at all.[8]

World Scholar's Cup achievements

Three students represented the Ryan Group in Singapore for the World Scholar's Cup, 2013 and became the first from India to qualify for the Global Round in Bangkok. One of them achieved the top spot in Writing Skills and also received the 'Top Scorer Award'. In Bangkok, one of them achieved the 'Top Scorer Award' and another achieved the third position in Collaborative Writing and through teamwork subsequently qualified for the Tournament of Champions in Yale University, USA.
