Salvatore Tavano

Salvatore Tavano (born 13 March 1980 in Siracusa) is an Italian auto racing driver.

Career

After starting his racing career in karting, Tavano spent two years in the Italian Formula Three Championship. He finished fourth in 1998 and third in 1999. In 2001 he competed in the European Formula 3000 Championship. He was the Italian Super Production Champion in 2003. In 2005 he managed to finish third in the Italian Superturismo Championship.[1] From 2002 he spent three years driving in the European Touring Car Championship.

His success in Touring cars led to a drive in selected rounds of the 2005 World Touring Car Championship for the DB Motorsport team. In 2006 he competed again in the WTCC, for the N. Technology ran, works Alfa Romeo team, in an Alfa Romeo 156. The highlight of the year was a race win in round eleven at Puebla. Despite this result, a largely disappointing season saw him end the year in eighteenth place.

In 2007 he competed in the Le Mans Series in the GT1 Class with a Saleen S7R. He has also driven in the Italian GT Championship.
