Sanghi (سانگھی) Also spelled as (Sanghi or Sangi) is a Saraiki tribe in Punjab, Pakistan.

Location

The majority of the tribe occupies the Northern most territory of the District of Dera Ghazi Khan Tehsil Taunsa Sharif, Panjab, Pakistan and its adjacent tribal areas in the Suleiman Mountains. Important centers of the tribe include Basti Bukna, Nari North, Nari South, Retra, Chah Kamali, Vehova, Ismail Abad (near indus high way. Sanghi's are also found in Jampur Punjab and in Rajanpur. In Sindh their main districts are Sanghar, Nawab Shah.Nari South also known as Nari Janobi is the main populated area of Sanghi tribe in Taunsa Sharif. Approx. population of sanghi tribe in Nari union counsel is 20,000. Malik Iftikhar-ul-Hassan, Malik Zameer- ul -Hassan were famous politician from Sanghi Tribe. Both remained chairman of Nari union counsel. Another well-known personality is Engr.Ilyas Raza. He completed his formal education from Tonsa Sharif with distinct awards. He gained his B.Sc Mechanical Engineering degree from UET Lahore which is a famous and well known university in Pakistan. After that, he went Korea for higher education where he secured M.Sc degree in Mechanical Engineering with best achievement award. Currently , he is doing his Ph.D in Germany.

Language

The Sanghi people living in Punjab (Dera ghazi Khan district, RajanPur, Lahore) and in the Sulaiman Ranges speak Saraiki while those living in plains of Sindh mostly speak Sindhi.
