Santa Catarina's guinea pig or Moleques do Sul cavy, Cavia intermedia is a guinea pig species from South America. It is found in Brazil on the small island of Moleques do Sul in the state of Santa Catarina. The island has a surface area of only 10.5 ha; the guinea pig's geographical distribution of only 4 ha is one of the world's smallest for a mammal.[1]
