Sarmanovsky District (Russian: Сарма́новский райо́н; Tatar: Сарман районы) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the forty-three in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. It is located in the east of the republic. The area of the district is 1,385 square kilometers (535 sq mi). Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Sarmanovo.[2] Population: 36,681(2010 Census);[5] 37,475 (2002 Census);[8] 32,258(1989 Census).[9] The population of Sarmanovo accounts for 19.5% of the district's total population.[5]
