Scott Duane Whiting (born April 1961) has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since 2012. He is a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy.
Whiting was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a young man, he served as a full-time church missionary in the Japan Tokyo North Mission. After his mission, he completed a bachelor's degree in Japanese at Brigham Young University and a juris doctorate from the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific.
Whiting moved to Kailua, Hawaii and became the vice president and in-house counsel for Molokai Ranch; in 2001, he became the president and CEO.[1]
In the LDS Church, Whiting has served as a bishop, stake president, and area seventy. He became a general authority and a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy at the LDS Church's spring general conference. As a general authority, he has served as a counselor in the presidency of the Asia North Area and has been the area's president since August 2015.[2]
In April 1984, Whiting married Jeri Lynn Olson. They have five children.
