Shimurali ( Often spelt 'Simurali' ) is a town situated at Nadia district in the state of West Bengal, India. The Simurali railway station is 58 km [1] from Sealdah station of Kolkata. It is known for the B.ED. (Bachelor of Education) college that is 'Shimurali Sachinandan College of Education',[2][3] under the University of Kalyani. This place is also well known for the production of betel leaf and sweet water fishes for the local fish market they are also supplied to outer markets. There are three 10+2 schools for both co-ed and individually made for boys and girls.
History and Geography
Shimurali is one of the most culturally diverse place. In the past, it was best known for its river port which was under British port trust, Calcutta Port Trust Corporation(C.P.T.). Urban side of this place is mostly found around the railway station area, and less crowded side is far way from Shimurali Railway Station. Shimurali is also well known for farming. Several types of crops, paddies and vegetables are available in the retail market at very low cost.

As of 2011 India census at Shimurali. Total 2 panchyates of Shimurali. 1.Chanduria and 2.Simurali are Census town 2011. The total population in Chanduria city/town is 12,700 as per the survey of census during 2011 by Indian Government.While the population is 12,700, there are 6,453 males and 6,247 females are there. Further the children below 6 years of age are 1,004 of which 491 are males and 513 are females. Literates are 10,029 of which males are 5,322 and Females are 4,707. There are 2,671 Illiterates.Simurali is a Census Town city in district of Nadia, West Bengal. The Shimurali Census Town has population of 5,027 of which 2,509 are males while 2,518 are females as per report released by Census India 2011. Population of Children with age of 0-6 is 401 which is 7.98% of total population of Shimurali (CT). In Shimurali Census Town, Female Sex Ratio is of 1004 against state average of 950. Moreover, Child Sex Ratio in Shimurali is around 1111 compared to West Bengal state average of 956. Literacy rate of Shimurali city is 91.50% higher than state average of 76.26%. Religion
Mostly Bengali Hindus and Muslims live here. Christians are very less in numbers. This place is very peaceful and harmonic and better than many other places in the state and the country. There is a beautiful Baishnab Matha and a Kali Mandir(temple) to visit.
Culture
Mostly Bengali Hindu cultures are widely celebrated here.Durgapuja and Kali puja. Eid are mostly celebrated. it is famous for 150 year old burimatala durga puja.
Banks
It has several bank branch offices like United Bank Of India, State Bank Of India, Central Bank of India,Allahabad bank etc. also there are many ATM cash counters available of Axis Bank, UBI Bank, State Bank,ICICI Bank UCO Bank.
Market
Shimurali has two major markets. Both of them are mostly retail markets. One is at the west side of the 47/T railway gate (up) and another one is at the south part of the railway platform (down). Both of them are retail markets, famous for fish & paan (also called betel leaf). These retail markets start treading from early in the morning. Markets stay closed on every Tuesday(2nd one) and every Thursday(1st one).
Transport
Railway is the largest transport system available here which connects the place with rest of the state and the country. National highway no. 34 also connects the town to Kolkata to Punjab.There are other transport systems available too like Auto, Bus, rickshaw, bicycle etc. Most of the people have their own vehicles, mostly bikes, and cars too.
Telecommunication
BSNL regional branch office is situated here, which provides easier tele connection, people have Land Line with Broad Band Connection in their houses. Apart from that mobile is the most useful tool for the common people. There are also smart phones and tablet (lesser) users.
