Sigori is a village located on the bank of River Punpun in District Patna.Villages in sigori Panchayat JANPUR, NARAOLI, MAHARAJGANJ, HADINAGAR, KANORA, NONIACHAK.Sigori is surrounded by Punpun River, Maharajganj, Hadinagar,Shia Bigha in east,Bhinnak Bigha,Narauli,Noniachak in south,Janpur, Makhdumchak, Bibipur and nijhra in west and Patringa,Chakardah,Gopipur in north. Sigori is hub of small weavers who produces cotton towel, Sawls, Lungies, Shirt Cloths, etc. Population of village is 30000-40000 and having a voting capacity of 7,034 (As per Voter rolls of 2014). Village is known for its Unity at the times of Elections and casts their votes by selecting a single candidate from village among various. Ittehad Committee is a body governing pre election opinion poles such as election before election to select candidate for village who has maximum votes in the village to represent in elections

History

Before freedom of India sigori was called as tola of village janpur. pre freedom era village was ruled by zamindar of janpur. That time sigori was very small in population. zamindar of janpur donated a large area of land for graveyard purpose which is notably largest in area. Due to riots in india after independence most of Muslim population migrated to Sigori. Later days population of village increased continuously as the village was developed as better environment for Muslims.

Samda Mela is a local fare organised on Makar Sankranti (14 January) every year. This fare is located on bank of Punpun. Every year villagers of nearby gathers here to sell and purchase of cattles and Furnitures. Several Entertainment arrangements are also attracts.

Gopal Narayan Public Library is a Library located in bharatpura.This is a very old library established before independence of India. Currently this library is run by Government of Bihar.

Taregna

Historical place Taregna which was the birthplace & astronomical observatory of The great mathematician and Arya Bhatt. It is believed that here he proposed the Heliocentric Model, and suggested for the first time in history that Earth revolves around the Sun.Also, there are the remains of Ashoka The Great, because in some villages Statues made of Black Stone and of alloys were found and are worshipped as God by the locals.

Village is well known for handloom in the village. Basic occupation of village is producing Cotton fabrics. Hand looms was very common occupation for villagers before 1990 AD. After 1990 AD Electric supply to village was stopped which resulted in end of power looms in the village. In the same time Polyester Cloths introduced in indian market. Then day by day due to durability of Polyesters run down Cotton fabric. It was impact of such situation people think to other occupation. Young generation of village migrated to cities to learn new works. This time was change of basic occupation in Village. In the last of decade some Youths of village were selected in defence entrance rallies. Then it was a new change. Later people of village got aware for more scope to do.In start of new century it was return of golden time of village several young blood joined Defence sector and other Government Job as possible as instead of migrating from village.

Notable People

Ustad Maulana Luqman

Maulana Luqman was very respected person and called as teacher of all villagers. He survived on earth more than 100 years guiding several generations. He was very respected and undisputed Imam for the prayers Eids in village till their health allowed(till the age 100+).

Sardar Mangar Ali

Sardar Mangar Ali was very dedicated to the development of village. He donated his lots of properties for community works. He also donated lands for Eidgah, Chhoti Masjid & Madarsa Islamia Sigori. He lost his every thing in a robbery in his house. After some days he died. He is buried in the corner of Eidgah.

Education

Basic education of village children are started through Madarsa Islamia Sigori in view of Providing Knowledge of religion and language Urdu and Arabic. There are several primary, Middle schools in village run by Government and Private. There is a High School Named Abdul Qaiyum Ansari Urdu High School established in 1988 AD.
