Sir Walter Buffalo Turf

Sir Walter Premium Lawn Turf is a variety of Australian-bred soft-leaf Buffalo Grass (Stenotaphrum secundatum) (also known as St. Augustine Grass) first developed in the Hunter Valley in New South Wales. Brent Redman developed Sir Walter in the mid 1990s to be an environmentally responsible grass able to flourish under the harsh conditions found in many parts of Australia.

Original forms of buffalo were tough and scratchy to the touch. Soft-leaf buffaloes are the result of breeding to produce buffalo grasses that retain this durability but that are soft and pleasant to touch. Sir Walter was preceded by other soft-leaf buffalo grasses such as Shademaster Buffalo, but supersedes them in winter colour retention and resilience.

Sir Walter is a registered PBR Turf. Turf farmers must have a license to grow this breed. Purchasers receive a certificate to verify that they have received a genuine version of Sir Walter Turf.
