Siwan is a city and the district headquarters of the Siwan district in the Indian state of Bihar.
Geography
Siwan (the old name Aligunj) is located at 26°13′N 84°22′E / 26.22°N 84.36°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 77 metres (252 feet).
Demographics
As of 2011 India census,[2] Siwan had a population of 3,318,176. Males constitute 50.4% of the population and females 49.6%. Siwan has a literacy rate of 72%, higher than the state average of 63.8%: male literacy is 82.8%, and female literacy is 60.4%.
