Skaistgirys is a small town in Šiauliai County in northern-central Lithuania. As of 2001 it had a population of 964.

In Skaistgirys stands molar St. St. George's Church (since 1827). Is a park, summer stage in which the parish feast is going. Running Skaistgirys secondary school, pharmacy, post office (LT-84025), clinic, recreation center, park, public library, kindergarten.
First mentioned in the year 1426. Skaistgirys the first church was built in about 1714. The town is famous St. And St. George. Martin's feast. n Soviet times, was "Victory" collective farm village. It was the first village type settlement in Lithuania handled according district layout scheme. 1965 it was given the title of the best managed settlement (a competition organized by the "Truth" newspaper). At the same time were built a collective farm cultural center, equipped public museum. 2005 approved Skaistgirys coat of arms.
The origin of the name:
Name of the town comes from the word bright (Lith. skaistus, šviesus) + praise or "big forest" (Lith. giria or girti). It is said that the name comes from the beautiful pine forest, which grew in on the spot of the present church and which was called luminance Forest. Until 1930. official form was Skaisgirys later - Skaisgiris, and in the twentieth century. 2nd half leveled Skaistgirys.
Nature and Geography:
In the west side of the town is flowing the Vilkija creek. There is Vilkija hydrological reserve. In 1963 were founded a park of 10 hectares of land, amphitheater and summer stage, it was the first township kind park in the republic. 1965 people of Skaistgirys first in Republic were awarded for an orderly and nice environment. The town is famous for dolomite (dolomite reservoir is Skaistgirys dolomite quarry), Uolynas Hill, clean water quarry.
