Slobodan “Krcun” Penezić (Serbian Cyrillic: Слободан Крцун Пенезић; 2 July 1918 – 6 November 1964) was a Serbian politician who was the Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs.[1] During his heyday, he was Josip Broz Tito's chief of secret police in Serbia.

He was also notable for assisting in the arrest of Draža Mihailović. Penezić was awarded the Order of the People's Hero on July 5, 1952.[2]

Career

Penezić was a member of the Central Committee of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia and the League of Communists of Serbia Executive Committee. He also was chairman of the Executive Council of the Serbian parliament.[3]

Death

On 6 November 1964 Penezić and Svetolik Lazarević were killed in a car accident when their car skidded off a wet road into a tree.[3] Those having doubts about the official version included his wife but his son considered finding out hard facts was now impossible.[2]
