EMA 2004

EMA 2004 held on 15 February 2004 in Hall A - Gospodarsko Razstavišče, Ljubljana. Unlike previous editions of EMA this contains 4 weekly semifinals on 11th, 18, 25 January, and 1 February 2004. Total of 32 entrants participated in the EMA 2004, but only half of them; 16 made to the finale night in which was chosen the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 representative.
Presenters of EMA 2004 were Miša Molk, Peter Poles, and Bernarda Žarn. But Molk didn't appear in semifinals as a presenter, Poles and Žarn appear in the finale as co-presenters in green room and spokespersons of televote points.

Platin

Platin (Duo Platin) is a Slovenian music duet. The singers are Simon Platin and Diana Platin. They married in Turkey, while they were representing Slovenia in Eurovision Song Contest 2004.

Semi-finals

Four semifinals held on 11, 18, 25 January and 1 February 2004. Eight participants performed a song in each semifinal. At the end of each semifinal viewers were given 5min to cast a televote during a Eurovision medley performed by semifinal participants. The three with the highest televote score qualified for the final.

When semifinals were completed the jury was asked to vote. The jury chose a "wildcard" from each heat to proceed to the final night.

Controversy

Like in many previous editions of EMA, the public televote and the jury awarded conflicting scores. This caused some controversy, because the strongest televote favorite Natalija Verboten, received 0 points from the jury. Similarly, Bepop in 2003, Karmen Stavec in 2002, and Tinkara Kovač in 1999 were also televote favorites. These entries usually came 2nd, or failed to qualify for the semifinals, because the points awarded by the jury outweighed the points they received from the televotes.
The controversy resulted in the 2005 EMA scores basing solely on the results of the televote.

Slovenia performed 16th in the semi final. It finished on second last 21st place with only 5 points, failing to qualify to the Grand Finals
