Smashing Magazine is a website and eBook publisher that offers editorial content and professional resources for web developers[2] and web designers.[3] It was founded in 2006 by Sven Lennartz and Vitaly Friedman as part of the German-based Smashing Media AG.[4]
As of May 2015, Smashing Magazine had an Alexa ranking of 2193, in addition to over 900,000 worldwide Twitter followers and 240,000 Facebook fans — making it one of the largest publishers of web development resources.[5][6][7]
Notable for its vibrant community, The Huffington Post has ranked Smashing Magazine as one of the best places for web developers to find jobs.[8]

Articles
Smashing Magazine publishes articles on the latest trends and best practices in web development. Topics include web design, graphic design, and user experience. The content is primarily targeted toward advanced web design and development professionals.
Conferences
Smashing Magazine hosts three annual conferences that take place in New York, London, and Freiburg.[9] Conference partners include IBM, Microsoft, and Shopify.[10] Each conference consists of two-day, single-track workshops featuring prominent members of the industry discussing web design trends and insights. Notable speakers include Stefan Sagmeister, Jon Burgerman, and Daniel Burka.[11]
Library
On November 27th, 2012, Smashing Magazine started the subscription-based service Smashing Library, containing more than 150 eBooks and videos on web design. The subscription provides new, curated content on design best practices and coding techniques, as well as access to the publication's entire back-catalogue. The eBooks are available in PDF, ePUB, and Amazon Kindle.[12]
Newsletter
Highlights of the magazine are collated bi-monthly to form an email newsletter. As of May 2015, the newsletter has over 180,000 subscribers.[13]

In 2010, Smashing Magazine was the recipient of a Shorty Awards for its notable contribution to the field of design.[14]
