The smooth grouper (Dermatolepis striolata) is a species of fish in the Serranidae family. It is found in Comoros, Eritrea, Iran, Kenya, Mozambique, Oman, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, Yemen, and possibly Madagascar. Its natural habitats are open seas, shallow seas, subtidal aquatic beds, and coral reefs.
