Soil2O
Soil2O is a cross-linked eco-friendly copolymer that mixes with water to create a gel that holds 400 times its weight in water.[1] Soil2O is developed and manufactured by GelTech Solutions and became an official registered trademark in February 2012.[2] GelTech Solutions created Soil2O to reduce the amount of water necessary to keep plants hydrated and decrease water resource exploitation. Tests conducted in the United States and Europe proves soil treated with Soil2O prior to planting, reduces water consumption and increases yield.[3] Soil2O is eco-friendly and does no harm if ingested. GelTech Solutions recently launched a Soil2O product called the Home Lawn Care Kit Starter Pack. The first test market is being held in Pasadena, California.[4]
- Particles hold up to 400 times their weight in water and release 95% of that water back to the root zone of the plant or soil upon plant demand.
- Cuts the amount of water needed and reduces irrigation by up to 50%
- Specially formulated with a natural rewetting ability that continues to function even after dry out.
Agriculture
Soil2O Topical is used for after planting and re-hydrating. Soil2O Topical is a specially formulated fine particle powder blend that has a specific balance between gel blocking and swell-ability which performs in demanding environments. Soil2O Topical has anti-caking characteristics that allows it to be dispersed on golf courses and various turfs using commercial spray equipment.[5] Soil2O Topical can last up to 90 days before being broken down by UV rays.[6] Soil2O Topical is environmentally friendly.[7] Soil2O Topical reduces the amount of water necessary for irrigation by up to 50%. GelTech Solutions announced Soil2O Topical when first announcing Soil2O.
Soil2O Granular is used for pre-planting or sowing.[8] Soil2O Granular products last up to 5 years[9] and are environmentally friendly.[10] GelTech Solutions announced Soil2O Granular when first announcing Soil2O.
- Reduces irrigation requirements by up to 50%, saving both water and money
- Reduces evapotranspiration, holding water and nutrients at the root level to produce strong, healthy crops, plants, and lawns.
- Compatible with fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, and nematicides.
- Helps aerate compacted soils - Allows sandy soils to retain water and nutrients
- Reduces leaching and increases nutrient uptake
- Can be used to treat existing turf grass and landscaping
- Can be used to treat new sod installations and plantings
- Provides moisture during transplanting and transporting to reduce 'plant shock'
- Compatible with all types of soil, grasses, and equipment
- Safe for kids, pets, and the environment
Uses include:
- Agriculture and Horticulture
- Golf Courses and Sports Turf
- Landscaping / Home and Garden
- Plant Cultivation and Transportation
Dust Control
Soil2O Dust Control is a cross-linked co-polymer and works by using fine granules of polymer to hold moisture at the upper portion of the soil profile and trap fine soil particles in place. The polymer is re-hydrated with plain water, although it is also designed to re-hydrate and function with natural sources of moisture.[11] Soil2O Dust Control is environmentally friendly.[12] GelTech Solutions first announced Soil2O Dust Control in December 2010. [13]
Soil2O Dust Control does not contain caustic or corrosive chemicals found in most dust control products, thereby extending the durability and lifespan of equipment and vehicles. Soil2O Dust Control is effective for use in dust abatement procedures, mining and aggregate facilities, as well as on coal, ash, mineral, ore and limestone storage piles. Soil2O Dust Control is very versatile and is known to provide many benefits at dirt race tracks and equestrian facilities. Soil2O Dust Control applications can be driven on by heavy construction and track equipment. Soil2O Dust Control It is budget-friendly, easy to use, and supports all PM10 EPA particulate matter requirements.
The Indian Trail Improvement District Board of Supervisors approved a test dust control project with the Soil2O dust control product proposed by GelTech Solutions of Jupiter, Florida. The test is for a six-month trial application along a half-mile length of 130th Avenue North between Persimmon Blvd. and 60th Street North, which has shown a very high level of traffic-generated dust.[14]
Dust control products generally fall into four categories. The first two are petroleum-based products, such as emulsified asphalts, but they are considered environmentally hazardous, according to the report. The third category includes such non-petroleum products as lignosulfates, which are a byproduct of the wood pulping industry, but they tend to leach and run off during heavy rains, giving off odors and staining soil. The fourth category, synthetic polymers, are generally stable, durable, do not leach or give off appreciable odors, and have proven to be the most environmentally friendly.
Soil Cap
Soil2O Soil Cap uses advanced polymer technology to infiltrate and bond with the totality, creating a waterproof and durable shell.[15] Soil2O Soil Cap is environmentally friendly.[16] GelTech Solutions first announced Soil2O Soil Cap in August 2014.[17]
Can be used for mining operations, construction, and development, runoff reduction, erosion control, soil waterproofing, and road building.
