Soundview Preparatory School, an independent, coed day school for grades 6 – 12, is located on a 13 acre campus in Yorktown Heights, New York in northern Westchester County. Founded in the spring of 1989, the School has an enrollment of approximately 80 students. Students come from Westchester, Putnam and Rockland Counties in New York State and from Fairfield County in Connecticut, as well as from New York City.

Families choose Soundview because of its responsiveness to students, its rigorous academic program and its sense of community. At Soundview, students thrive in a non-competitive setting that stresses individual responsibility, ethical values, and solid relationships with fellow-students and faculty. Students build self-esteem in a setting where they feel recognized and validated, laying the groundwork for success.

Our college preparatory program offers challenges for the most advanced students while ensuring that those who need help receive it. A wide array of extra-curricular activities offers ample opportunities for students to develop their talents and explore their leadership abilities. Soundview’s athletic program includes teams for soccer, basketball, bowling and Ultimate Frisbee.

Extracurricular activities

Soundview has many clubs, each one hosted by a teacher, where students can meet others who share an immediate interest. Some clubs are the Knitting Club, the Gardening Club, the Politics Club, the Chess Club, the A Cappella Club, and the Yearbook Club. Usually, the clubs meet once a week. Soundview's athletes are the Soundview Bulldogs, and sports played throughout the year include soccer, basketball, bowling, and Ultimate Frisbee. To foster a sense of community and school spirit, all students are encouraged to attend at least some games. In past years, the school has had an annual trip to a foreign country, and students have been able to visit Italy, England, Greece, China, Russia, and Argentina. Another way that Soundview helps its students feel a sense of community is by requiring six weeks of community service.

Soundview also has an mock trial team that started up in 2010.
