Suja Juice is a brand of cold-pressed juice based in San Diego, California, that produces cold-pressed juices. It is the largest independent producer of cold-pressured juice sold in the United States.[1]

History

The company was founded in 2012 by Annie Lawless, Eric Ethans, James Brennan and Jeff Church. The juice is produced through large-scale use of a displacement technology called high pressure processing (HPP).[2]

In August 2015, The Coca-Cola Company took a 30% minority stake in the company for approximately $90 million dollars,[3] and signed a deal for Suja Juice products to be sold via Coca-Cola’s distribution network and produced at Coca-Cola's bottling facilities, without changing the products' recipes.[4]

Products

All Suja Juice products are made from organic, non-GMO fruits and vegetables, and are certified, OU certified kosher, gluten-free, dairy-free, and soya-free. They use BPA-free, PETE plastic bottles for packaging and source locally to reduce their carbon footprint.[5]

Suja Juices employs high pressure processing to make their juices, which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has recognized for preserving freshness and increasing shelf life without adding preservatives. The process also eliminates harmful bacteria while yielding a higher nutrient count.[6]

Suja Juice products are sold in the United States at retailers including Whole Foods Market, Target, Kroger and Amazon.com.

Philanthropic work

For every sale of Suja Elements, Suja’s line of juices and smoothies, 20-25 cents is donated to an social or environmental cause through the Suja Elements Cause Collective. The collective comprises 10 non-profit organizations focused on health & nutrition, sustainability, conservation and human rights.[7]
