The Terminal Sultan Babullah Airport

Sultan Babullah Airport (IATA: TTE, ICAO: WAEE), also known as Ternate Airport, is located in North Maluku, 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) northeast of Ternate. The airport is named after the Baabullah of Ternate, a Sultan of Ternate who fought against the Portuguese in the 1570s. It is designated as one of the 11 main entry ports to Indonesia by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture of Indonesia and serves as the main gateway to the. It is served by four airlines.

August 2007 riots

On August 22, 2007, this airport was the site of a violent protest by over 1,000 people about a gubernatorial election. Several police and protesters were injured, including four shot by police.[1]
