Peter Sommer Christensen (born Skanderborg, Denmark on 28 August 1974) is a Danish singer and songwriter. His lyrics are often characterized by interesting puns and word plays. Besides his solo career, he has been in various formations like SuperJeg (duo, 2002-2003), and De Eneste To (2010-2011)
In duo SuperJeg
In the beginning of the 2000s, Peter Sommer and Carsten Valentin Lassen formed the pop rock duo Superjeg (stylized as SuperJeg). Sommer was lead vocals and played also bass, whereas Lassen was played guitar and keyboards. The duo utilized many double meanings and puns in their musical output and released two albums: Alt er ego in 2002 and Øst/Vest in 2003 both on Auditorium label. They split soon after with both members continuing a solo career. In 2006, Carsten Valentin Lassen released his solo album Chancernes Allé on Universal Music.
Solo
After split, Sommer released his debut solo debut På den anden side that cracked the Top 5 in Denmark. His first solo single "Valby Bakke" was picked by P3 for Ugens Uundgåelige (week's pick), but it never charted. In 2006, he won a prize from Statens Kunstfond (the Danish Arts Foundation) for his follow-up album Destruktive vokaler in 2006.
His first charting single was "Rødt kort" from his 2008 album Til rotterne, til kragerne, til hundene. It earned him best artist in 2009 having won "Song of the Year" for "Vi falder først den dag vi kigger ned", "Album of the Year" for Til rotterne, til kragerne, til hundene and Best Lyrics. His album producer Henrik Balling won Producer of the Year for his work with Sommer.
In duo De Eneste To
In 2010, Peter Sommer formed the duo De Eneste To (meaning The only two) with Simon Kvamm. The duo released the self-titled album De eneste to to critical acclaim. It topped the Danish Albums Chart.
Personal life
Peter Sommer was married to Lise Westzynthius. They had son, Ivan together. The couple later divorced.
