Tandlianwala (Urdu, Punjabi: تحصیل تاندلیانوالہ) is the Tehsil (Sub Division) of Faisalabad District of Central Punjab. Ravi River passes by the adjoining villages of this small city. The area which is at the bank of Ravi River is called “Pattan”, “Mari Pattan” is one of the famous Pattan located in the territory of Tehsil Tandlianwla. There are number of castes which live in this region, those mainly include Lodhi, Sunpal, Sipra, Arain, Bhatti, Baloch, Khichi, Joiya, Mahoon, Sial, Wattoo, Kharal,Toor Rajpoot and others.
Tandlianwala is the area which is known for the braveness of its people. The people of this area fought bravely against British rule. “Mohammad Ahmed Kharal,” who was a famous freedom fighter, also belongs to this area. Being an agricultural area, most of the people here earn their bread and butter through cultivation.However, the city also has a vibrant business community.
Politically it is the most important Tehsil of Faisalabad District. Mian Manzoor Wattoo, the former chief minister of Punjab was elected from this constituency in 1993, while he lost from his home constituency. The important political leaders of this area are Jafar Ali Hocha, Khan Shahadat Ali Khan, Mian Nasir Baloch,Chaudhry Nadeem,Sadaqat Ali Bhatti, Khalid Wattoo, Shamsher Wattoo, Ali Gohar Khan Baloch Mahar Gohar Abbas Sunpal Mahar Zulfiqar Sunpal and Mushtaq Toor. Lt General Mushtaq Purhiar ex core commander, Lt General Asghar Bhutta Rector NUST, Muhammad Saftain Wattoo Deputy Director NLC, Gulam Mustafa Wattoo, Malik Ahmed Yar Wattoo, Mian Rajab Ali Baloch Renowned poet Late Naz Khialvi belongs to Tandlianwala.He was writer of Qawali تم اک گورکھ دھندہ ہو . He is buried in the main graveyard of the city. The name of the city comes from a herb "Tandla", which was grown in abundance here
