In 1959, the Associated Press began its AP Manager of the Year Award, which was discontinued in 2001. (From 1984 to 2000, the award was given to one manager in all of MLB.) In 1983, MLB began its own Manager of the Year Award (in each league). In 1998, Baseball Prospectus added a Manager of the Year award to its "Internet Baseball Awards" (one per league). In or about 2000, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum began its Charles Isham "C. I." Taylor Legacy Award for "Managers of the Year". In 2003, MLB added a Manager of the Year award (for all of MLB) to its This Year in Baseball Awards. In 2007, the Rotary Club of Pittsburgh began its Chuck Tanner Major League Baseball Manager of the Year Award (for all of MLB).
