The Gums is a town in the western Darling Downs region of Queensland, Australia. The town is at the junction of the Leichhardt Highway and the Tara - Surat road,[2] in the Western Downs Region local government area, 329 kilometres (204 mi) west of the state capital, Brisbane. At the 2006 census, The Gums and the surrounding area had a population of 169.[1]

The name of the town was derived from the nearby railway station, on the line from Dalby to Glenmorgan,[3] used from 1924.[4]
