"The Profit of Doom" is a single by gothic metal band Type O Negative from the 2007 album Dead Again. The song lasts 4½ minutes in single version, but lasts nearly eleven minutes in album version. The single was released just before the album was released in February 2007.
The song begins with slow, heavy riffs, with chorus like old-school King Crimson style, before some catchy, doomy riffs and ending with doomy solo. This song is treated everything from the heavy, the light, the pretty, the ugly, the beauty and the horror, the love and the hate.[2] The lyrics refer to the asteroid 99942 Apophis; at that time was said to have a possibility of hitting the Earth on Friday the 13th in April 2029.[3]
