Tōmi (東御市 Tōmi-shi) is a city located in Nagano Prefecture, Japan.

As of December 1, 2005, the city has an estimated population of 32,185 and a population density of 287 persons per km². The total area is 112.30 km².

The modern city of Tōmi was established on April 1, 2004, from the merger of the village of Kitamimaki (from Kitasaku District), and the town of Tōbu (from Chiisagata District).

As the census of 2010, there were 30,703 people and 10,801 households.

There were 10,801 households of which 39.4% had children living with them.

Notable people

Education

There is a high school (Tomi Seisho), two junior high schools (Tobu and Kitamimaki), and five elementary schools (Tanaka, Netsu, Kano, Shigeno, Kitamimaki). As of 2015 there are no private schools.

Previously the city had a Brazilian school, Colégio Pitágoras-Brasil.[1] It moved to Minowa and changed its name to Nagano Nippaku Gakuen.[2]
