Turn It on Again – Best of '81–'83
Turn It On Again – Best of '81–'83 is a 1991 compilation album by Genesis that focuses exclusively on four albums (two studio, one live and an EP) released between 1981 and 1983. This compilation was released before their next studio album We Can't Dance, also in 1991. The albums covered are Abacab, Three Sides Live, 3×3 and Genesis. The album broadly covers the period when Genesis consolidated as a trio, having survived two major losses: guitarist Steve Hackett and lead vocalist Peter Gabriel. After a couple of solid efforts with the 1978 album ...And Then There Were Three... and 1980's Duke, the group was making the transition from progressive rock to a more pop-oriented sound. It includes live versions of earlier singles "Follow You, Follow Me," "Misunderstanding" and "Turn It On Again" alongside studio work from the period such as hits "No Reply at All," "Man on the Corner," "Mama" and "That's All".
There is little new material excepting a nine-minute version of the song "Turn It On Again", however also included here are excerpts from songs by other groups that Genesis used to play live that had not been previously released on any other Genesis album.
