Tylden is a small country town in central Victoria, Australia in the Shire of Macedon Ranges local government area, 83 kilometres (52 mi) north-west of the state capital, Melbourne. At the 2006 census, Tylden has a population of 350.
History
Tylden Post Office opened on 7 January 1860.[2]
Today
Tylden is home to the large Wadham Park thoroughbred racehorse training facility recently established a cost of A$20m. The training facility was strongly opposed by residents over many years of public matters, the facility at one point wished to be granted permission to draw 20 million litres a year from the underground spring that runs below the town, they did not get their permit. In recent months it has been taken over by Mark Rowsthorn and is focusing on the breeding of thoroughbreds rather than a racing stable. Wadham Park is now known as Woodside Park Stud.[3]
