Applause (http://www.applause.com/) is one of two brands of Applause App Quality, Inc., a venture-funded software and application quality company, headquartered in Framingham, Massachusetts.
With six offices worldwide, the company’s U.S. headquarters are located in Massachusetts, with additional U.S. locations in San Mateo, California and Seattle.[2] Its European headquarters are located [3] in Berlin, with additional offices in Poland[4] and Israel.
History and Acquisitions
The company was originally incorporated under the name uTest in August 2007 by founders Doron Reuveni and Roy Solomon [5] with $2.3M in seed funding from Mesco Ltd. and the Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation (MTDC). [6]
• August 2012: The company acquired Apphance from Polish company Polidea [7] [8]
• January 2014: The company closed a $43 million Series E round of funding, led by Goldman Sachs, bringing its current funding to more than $80 million.[9]
• May 2014: The company changed its name to Applause [10]concurrent with the acquisition of German testing company Testhub, which became Applause’s European headquarters.[11]
Applause subsequently repurposed the uTest brand as a community of professional testers. Growing to more than 200,000 testers, uTest relaunched as a brand of Applause App. Quality, Inc. in 2015 with an updated site coined the “LinkedIn for Testers.”[12]
