Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU), is a university in Uganda, the third-largest economy in the East African Community.

Location

The university campus is located at Twed Towers, a nine-storey skyscraper at Plot 10 Kafu Road, on Nakasero Hill, an upscale neighborhood in Central Kampala, one of the five administrative divisions of Kampala, the capital of Uganda and the largest city in that country. The coordinates of the university campus are:0°19'34.0"N, 32°35'01.0"E (Latitude:0.326111; Longitude:32.583611).[2]

History

UTAMU was founded in 2012, by Venansius Baryamureeba PhD, its founding and current Vice Chancellor.[3] He recruited other lecturers and professors, both locally and internationally, and UTAMU admitted its inaugural class in May 2013, stating with five undergraduate degree courses in business and information technology.[4] The university is accredited by the Uganda Nation Council for Higher Education (UNCHE), the government body that licenses institutions of higher learning in the country.[5]

In its second year of operation, the university as expanded its undergraduate degree menu from the original five courses to about two dozen courses in business and information technology.[7]

Diplomas are offered to undergraduate and graduate students in a number of disciplines.

Certificates are offered to undergraduate and graduate students in a number of disciplines.

The university offers the degrees of Master of Science, Masters of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy in many disciplines in all four schools.
