The Field Elm cultivar Ulmus minor 'Virgata' was described by Pepin (as Ulmus campestris virgata) in Revue Hort. 1865: 347, 1865.
Description
Pepin described the tree as having slender, erect branches bestowing a fastigiate form.
Cultivation
Probably extinct. Planted before 1789 near Nangis, Seine-et-Marne.[1]

- Brighton & Hove City Council, UK, NCCPG elm collection . One large mature tree in Surrenden Road, Brighton.
- Melbourne, Australia; several specimen trees reported around the city.
