United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000
For the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest, the United Kingdom entered "Don't Play That Song Again", performed by Nicki French. It received 28 points and 16th place in Stockholm, Sweden.
National final
The UK selection heat, A Song for Europe, was held on 20 February 2000 and was hosted by Katy Hill. The final result was as follows:
1st - Don't Play That Song Again by Nicki French (47,355 votes)
2nd - Only the women know by SixChix (42,329 votes)
3rd - Crazy by Catherine Porter (29,348 votes)
4th - I won't let you do this to me by Sexy Sadie (votes undisclosed)
At Eurovision
The United Kingdom was the third country to perform on the night straight after the Netherlands. Nicki French scored a total of 28 points from eight of the twenty four countries. Turkey was the only jury voting country to give points to the United Kingdom this year. Overall the United Kingdom finished in 16th, its worst placing since it first entered the contest.
