University of Houston–Downtown College of Sciences and Technology
The University of Houston–Downtown: College of Sciences and Technology (CST) prepares students for careers or post-graduate study and research in the sciences, technology, mathematics and computer science. Faculty provide quality instruction as they bring leading-edge science and technology into the classroom. The college responds and works with government and industry through cooperative research programs and grants which enhance the educational environment and experiences of our majors.
The UHD Scholars Academy is an academically competitive program within the College of Sciences and Technology at the University of Houston-Downtown that promotes scholarship and student success for undergraduate students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
The CST offers another unique opportunity-the chance to do hands-on research in a number of laboratory and research settings, including the Scholars Academy, the Center for Applied Polymer Science Research and the Center for Computational Sciences and Advanced Distributed Simulation.
Engineering technology programs are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Graduates can go on to work as members of design teams of engineering firms and construction companies.

Scholars Academy
The UHD Scholars Academy (SA) is an academically competitive program in the College of Science and Technology (CST) that promotes scholarship and student success for UHD undergraduate students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). A major part of our mission is to increase the number of academically capable students graduating with degrees in the STEM fields, and to increase the number of those choosing to further pursue graduate and professional degrees. This competitive program is made possible by The Brown Foundation, Inc., National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, U.S. Army Research Office, U.S. Department of Education, Welch Foundation, and UHD Donors.
Most Scholars are graduates of Houston area high schools; however, many are also international students.
Scholars participate in special extracurricular activities and classes. They enroll in small mathematics and science classes taught by selected full-time faculty (no graduate teaching assistants). Classrooms and laboratories are equipped with latest teaching technologies and engineering/scientific equipment. Scholars participate in academic seminars, fieldtrips to STEM-related sites, and research internships.
